About

Dr. Hamdy S. Soliman is a Professor in the Department of Computer Science & Engineering at New Mexico Institute of Mining and Technology (NMT), where he has served on the faculty since 1990. He holds a Ph.D. in Computer Science from New Mexico State University, an M.S. from Florida Institute of Technology, and a B.S. from Alexandria University, Egypt. His research is centered on machine learning and neural network modeling, smart and secure wireless sensor networks (SS-WSNs), and network security, with applications spanning forest-fire prediction, border intrusion detection, healthcare diagnostics, and cybersecurity. He has published widely in journals and conferences, holds five U.S. patents in encryption and secure communication protocols, and has received funding from NSF, NASA, NMSGC, LANL, and NMT Research Foundation.

Beyond research, Dr. Soliman has held several administrative leadership roles at NMT, including Associate Chair for Research and Graduate Affairs, Department Chair, and Graduate Advisor for the Computer Science Department. He has supervised multiple Ph.D. students and more than fifteen M.S. students, mentored numerous undergraduate researchers, and developed and taught over a dozen undergraduate and graduate courses during his career. He is a long-standing member of IEEE and ACM, and regularly serves as a reviewer for federal research proposals, international journals, and conferences in his field.
